Yes, while I was typing up this post I was definitely humming the theme song along in my head! My husband and I had an old west, cowboy up style getaway to Jackson Hole, WY for our Anniversary. If you have never been to Jackson Hole… this town is all about the old west, cowboys, horses, wild life, and so on. I used to live in Jackson Hole before I was married and I always wanted to make some memories with my husband up there. So I planned a trip!
Since Jackson Hole isn’t a realistic spot for all of you to have a weekend getaway with your spouse, I’ve included alternative activities that you can do to still make this into a fun Wild Wild West date night…or weekend! Wild Wild West Invitation & Goodies When I gave my husband this invitation, I attached it to a basket of treats that were Cowboy inspired. Things like Beef Jerkey, Trail Mix, Grasshopper cookies, granola bars, Big Hunk candy bar, Corn Nuts, etc. You can add in anything you like that is either a special treat for both of you or has something to do with the Wild Wild West! A HUGE thanks to Aileen from Lil’ Buckaroo Designs for creating the FREE PRINTABLE for you to invite your spouse on one HOT western adventure! She did a fantastic job recreating this cowboy inspired invitation so each of you can use it for your date night! By the way…she also has a collection of adorable Western themed party supplies too! Bar J Wranglers Chuckwagon Dinner & Show
[source] One of the things I have always loved about Jackson Hole is the Bar J Wranglers! They are a well known harmony group that are also talented comedians and musicians. These singin’ cowboys not only put on the entertainment, but they also serve up your meal. This is old west entertainment at it’s finest. Couple that with a horse-drawn wagon ride and a dutch oven dinner, and you have your evening filled to the brim! Check out this video below for a short performance by the Bar J Wranglers (I know it isn’t the best quality, but it’s a good representation of their comedic skills and musical talent).
Since I can’t bring you to the Bar J Wrangler’s waterin’ hole, the least I could do is give you an entertaining alternative. 🙂 Make your own old west dinner by using the Old West Recipes we’ve provided below and then watch the Bar J Wranglers together afterwards (or during dinner) for your old west entertainment! If you want to watch these videos on your TV and have Netflix or Internet streamed through your gaming console, then you can pull up videos of the Bar J Wranglers via Youtube! Ranch Inn The Ranch Inn is a well known motel in the heart of Jackson Hole. It boasts views of the valley and of Snow King Mountain. Not to mention that the rooms are done up in western style. We took our trip nearing the off season, which I recommend if you are planning to take this trip yourself. You will get better rates and all of the tourist activities in town are still open (this means before Labor Day). I also used to work at The Ranch Inn when I was going to college, which made this a really fun experience! Alternative? Make your own bedroom into a Ranch Inn Honeymoon suite! Hang a sign on the outside of your door that says “Ranch Inn Honeymoon Suite. Cowboys Welcome,” then Set The Mood in your bedroom and bathroom complete with handkerchiefs (ahem, for later) and a Cowboy Hat For Him or a Pink Cowboy Hat For Her (OR you could wear these hats throughout your date night to make it more fun). Another alternative could be to set up a tent in the backyard, similar to this Camp Out Date. This could make it feel like you are really in the Old West! Jedediah’s House of Sourdough Jedediah’s is by far my favorite place to eat in Jackson Hole…it is also one of a kind. This is the place to get the best Sourdough pancakes and cowboy grub around. The atmosphere is also one of a kind because it feels like you are in an old west movie having a home cooked meal. YUM! [source] Every town has a restaurant (or several) that cater to home cookin’ fans. If you don’t want to go out to breakfast and would rather have breakfast in bed{wink, wink}, try some fabulous recipes for a cowboy worthy breakfast! Like these Cowboy Breakfast Sandwiches or Sourdough Pancakes with a side of eggs, bacon and orange juice! Granite Hot Springs
Rest your weary body in a natural hot spring (or hot tub)! One of my favorite places to go is Granite Hot Springs right outside of Hoeback Junction by Jackson Hole, WY. It is a gorgeous drive in, but the hot springs themselves are stunning. A lot of towns have natural hot springs close by, but if you don’t have that option any hot tub will do! Granite Hot Springs makes you feel like you are out in the middle of nowhere relaxing in the gorgeous nature that surrounds you. There is it folks! This is a fun getaway for anyone even if you don’t actually step out your front door. So Cowboy Up and Get ‘er done!
