Can I just tell you how excited I am to actually have it be WARM outside? Oh, I can’t wait! Well, I must say there is one reason I am glad that it’s not warm yet, my body is definitely NOT ready for warm weather clothes 😉 ! {WINK} I don’t think I am the only Diva feeling like that either! Ha, ha! My husband keeps mentioning how he wishes he made more time to work out and I totally echo that statement! I thought it would be fun to plan a date for us to workout at HOME! What better way to help get my body ready for summer than work out and an added BONUS is to do it with my HOT hubby! I know that I should just be working out anyway, but I have been having a hard time being motivated to work out by myself. It’s SO much better to workout WITH someone else, don’t you agree?
I wanted to plan a date that incorporated working out at home (because outside is WAY too cold), incorporated items I already owned, and motivated me to MOVE! For me, that included doing P90X. We are lucky because we purchased this amazing workout program a couple years ago and, I absolutely LOVE it. I know that a lot of people don’t have this program, but PLEASE don’t keep this from you doing this date. ANY workout video would work. Got yoga? Perfect! Your hubby now can do it with you! No workout videos, NO problem! There are workout videos on Netflix that you can do too (you can sign up for a free month if you don’t already have an account)! If nothing else, you can do exercises on your own. Here are some exercises you can do… Do 3 sets of the following exercises:
Jumping jacks for 2 min (to get your heart going) 25 push-ups 50 sit-ups 50 squats 50 squats but alternate kicking your legs in front of you (squat down, kick right leg in front of you, squat down, kick left leg in front of you) 2 min of running in place
After doing your 3 sets, make sure you end by doing some great stretches to help your body recover! For my date, I let Joseph know before he left for work, to be ready to have a fun, sweat-filled date after the kids went to sleep. He gave a questioning look and just laughed at me 🙂 . When it came time for our date, I had his workout clothes laid out for him and our P90X videos by them. I decided to let him pick out the video for us to do, but I let it be clear we were going to end with some great stretches and possibly a little yoga. He was super impressed AND excited!
We did our workout and I have to admit that my husband kicked my TRASH! LOL! But it didn’t matter in any way. He LOVED that I was trying my hardest and was impressed with how much I could do. I LOVED moving my body, pushing myself, and being with HIM. I know this is super cheesy but I really do love ANY time we have together even if we are getting all sweaty. Time really makes me feel closer to him.
We ended our workout by stretching for a good 20 min and then we had a recovery drink that we had left over from when we did the program a few years ago. The drink is very similar to Gatorade. If you don’t have something like this please make sure you drink TONS of water. Water is SO essential when working out. I have found that if I have a glass of water while working out it helps, but I am constantly filling it up during my workout. If you have a great water bottle, it’s helps keep you hydrated and not miss any part of your workout!
